Sara Schmidt
Day Program Director
Sara is thrilled to join the AGDT team. Originally from a small town south of Syracuse, NY, Sara moved to New York City over a decade ago with an art history degree and an open mind about her future. What began as a job in dog walking quickly turned into a lifelong passion.
Having grown up with a slew of yellow labradors, working with dogs felt like a natural fit. Sara's career progressed rapidly — she opened and managed nine daycare and grooming facilities, led and trained a team of pet care specialists, and ensured the well-being of every dog in the company's care. Along the way, she had the rewarding opportunity to organize adoption events with rescue groups including Muddy Paws and Bideawee.
While she valued her time on the operations side of the pet care industry, Sara was eager to return to hands-on work with dogs. She is now focused on compassionate, reward-based, science-backed training methods. Her goal is to build strong bonds with clients and their pups while creating an uplifting and enriching environment for learning.
Sara is certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.
She lives on the Upper East Side with her cat, Dinah.
